Psalm 122:1 says, “I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” That time has not yet arrived for us as we continue to refrain from gatherings and shelter in place. But God is not bound by time or space. How good it is to know our God is with us always! The work of the church, the family of God, goes on.

Randy and Sheila Nilson are coordinating a phone calling outreach. If you have not received a call from someone from Gethsemane and would like a call, please let the office know. If you know someone, member or not, who might like to receive a regular call, we will be pleased to add them to the call list.

If you wish to follow a traditional Lutheran worship service on Sunday mornings, go to the synod website at Click on the icon for COVID-19 updates. On that page there is a place to click for a list of congregations from which you may choose. Or visit for services from Jeremy Johnson, son of Jerry and Jackie Johnson, now a Lutheran pastor. In the meantime, we are working on a format to provide our Gethsemane family with an on-line local mini worship.

For those of you using the printed worship materials from Gethsemane, please note that the worship booklet is also available on our web site. The worship icon on the front page of our website connects you to the entire format with live links to music.

Even in these uncertain times, we are blessed. It was my privilege to join David Guse and Janice Zarbok in marriage at their home on Friday, March 27. We pray God’s blessings upon them in their marriage and welcome Janice as a new member of our congregation.

Attention confirmation students and parents! Changes to the requirements for this year:

· worship attendance requirements for Lent are waived

· adjustments for the regular worship attendance requirements will be made

· make-up date for two remaining class sessions will be decided, maybe combined

· service projects: take a picture of a service you are doing for someone, make a note as to what you are doing, when, where, and for whom, and let me know so I can fill out a form for you and be sure you get credit

Note to the whole Gethsemane family: confirmation students will be looking for ways to serve. If you need help with something, let’s see if we can make a connection. Spring yard clean up comes to mind since it can be done within the guidelines of social distancing. Contact the church office with your requests or suggestions.

Please continue to pray for our Gethsemane family, the whole church and for all who are in need.

The peace of Christ be with you.
