Dear Gethsemane Friends and Family,
Grace to you, and peace from God our Father and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As we head into the month of July, we continue to find new ways to live in this era of Corona virus. Many are now coming to understand that life will never be “just like it used to be.” In these trying times, many are carrying burdens.
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
What comfort, what joy to know Jesus as our friend!
We remember that as the church, we are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world. We are the arms that reach out. We are the shoulders to cry on. We are the ones to help carry the load for others. As we hear so often, “we’re all in this together.” Let it be true in our words and in our actions.
The Gethsemane council voted to return to indoor worship beginning July 5 at 9 am. Although this signals a return to the building, worship will be different from when we met last. See Council President Rollie Johnson’s letter for details.
I also want to reassure everyone that returning to worship is an individual choice. Consider your health and risk factors regarding COVID 19. Some may not be prepared to resume corporate worship at this time. As church, we are here to love and support you in whatever decision you make. Contact the church if there is anything we can help you with.
Peace
Mavis
