We recognize the our adult membership at Gethsemane is aging. Their needs are varied, but physical health is of primary importance. As good stewards, how do we make the best use of our physical resources and help to meet the needs of our congregation?
Our adult population could benefit greatly from a safe and welcoming place to tend to their physical health. Some churches have a parish nurse as part of their staff. We are not able to add staff, but thanks to the generosity of various individuals, we have been able to address the needs of our members while fulfilling our commitment to be good stewards of the physical property entrusted to us.
We have equipped a former classroom with a treadmill, Nordic Track stationary bicycle, and several pieces of equipment for toning various muscle groups.
We are calling the room The Little Gym. It is a place for Gethsemane members to continue cardio rehab, a place to take a walk-in safety and relative comfort on a rainy or wintry day, a place to gently work muscle groups to offset muscle loss as one ages.
